Funeral Services for Marilyn J. Hobbs age 79 of Ewing was at 10:30 am Friday, March 25, 2016 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Clearwater, NE with Pastor Daniel Feusse, Officiating. Music was provided by Sherri Ahlers, Organist and Doug Wright, soloist. Burial was in Ewing City Cemetery in Ewing. Pallbearers were Kyle Hobbs, Braden Hobbs, Taylor Hobbs, Nick Wright, Adam Dillon, and Dan Brummels. Honorary Pallbearers were Trey Dillon and Jayce Dillon. Visitation was from Thursday, 5:00 to 7:00 March 24, 2016 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater. Marilyn passed away March 21, 2016 at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, NE. Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Marilyn J. Weyhrich was born to Edward and Anna Weyhrich on October 23, 1936 in Pierce County, Nebraska. She confirmed her faith in the Lord at Concordia Lutheran Church in Clearwater. She attended rural District #146 through the eighth grade. She attended Ewing Public High School and graduated with the Class of 1954. She worked as a secretary for an attorney in Neligh until August 1957. On August 4, 1957 she was united in marriage to Dwayne Hobbs at Concordia Lutheran Church in Clearwater, NE. The couple moved to Milford, NE where she was employed from 1957 to 1958 as a part time secretary to a truck broker and from 1958 to 1959 as secretary to the administrator of the Milford vocational Tech School. In 1959 the family returned to Ewing. She was the secretary at the Ewing Public School from 1969 to 1974 and from 1975 until 2013 she served as the school district bookkeeper. She also bought and sold grain and loaded several trucks along with doing the books for her husbands' trucking business for over 20 years. Her and her husband owned and operated Broadway Bar in Ewing, NE and she managed it for 16 years. She loved working in the bar and socializing with all the customers. Marilyn was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan and especially football. Her love for Husker football was only trumped by her love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marilyn spent her time embroidering, playing Sudoku, Crossword Puzzles and in the last few years she mastered her IPAD. Survived by her husband, 4 children: Tim and Nadine Hobbs of Ewing, NE, Melanie and Rod Wright of North Platte, NE, Todd and Sue Hobbs of Ewing, NE, Tami and John Agin of Windsor, CO. 6 grandchildren, Kyle Hobbs, Braden (Cadance) Hobbs, Brooke (Adam) Dillon, Taylor Hobbs, Samantha Wright, Nick Wright. 2 great grandchildren, Trey and Jayce Dillon; 2 sisters, Frances Brummels, Leola Villnow and 1 brother David Weyhrich. Sister-in-law Lois Weyhrich. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Lloyd Weyhrich, sisters, Ruth Ann Weyhrich, Marjorie Swanda, Mae Broda,Leona Schomberg, brother-in-laws, Adrian (Bud) Broda, Donald Schomberg, Vernon Brummels, Delbert Villnow, Robert Swanda, and sister-in-law, Corinne Weyhrich.
