Dorothy Diedrichsen

Services for Dorothy Mae Diedrichsen, 88, Plainview, will be Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. The Rev. Nathan Metzger and Stanley Morrison will officiate with burial in Pleasant View Cemetery.

She passed away Sunday, October 9, 2011 at the Plainview Hospital.

The daughter of Les and Lila (Barrett) Scranton was born August 10, 1923 in Pierce County. She attended country school to the 8th grade and was unable to finish school because of health reasons. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church. She served as a nanny for several families.

On February 15, 1957, she was married to Leonard Diedrichsen. To this union were born two daughters, Anna Lee and Ruth Marie. They farmed east of Creighton until 1970 when they moved to Dumas, Texas. After the death of her husband in 1973 she moved her girls back to Plainview to be closer to her family.

Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, ceramics, cooking, quilting, and helping other people in any way she could. Her pride and joy was her family and kept scrapbooks of all their accomplishments. She loved babysitting her grandchildren and followed all of their activities.

Dorothy is survived by her two daughters Ann and husband Randy and Ruth and husband Doug. Grandchildren Travis and wife Torie, Tammy, Tara and husband Brian, Tim and wife Kelsey, Traci, Tiffany, Tyler, Tony, Tessa, Trenton, Melissa, Cody, Lucas, and Michaela. An adopted daughter Cindy, her husband Ken and adopted grandchildren Brent and his wife Candace, Eddie and Kalina, and Andy. Three great grandchildren Madisyn, Bryce, and Weston, and two adopted great grandchildren Devin and Kinslee. Two brothers Marvin Scranton and Elvin “Bud” Scranton and wife Virginia. A sister- in- law Mary Jean Diedrichsen and a host of nieces and nephews. Special friends Don Jenkinson and Harold Doerr.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sister-in-laws, Liz Scranton and Dora Diedrichsen, brother-in-laws, Harry Diedrichsen and Fred Diedrichsen.
