Jean Maxine Hoffart (Plainview)

Funeral services for Jean Maxine Hoffart, age 84, of Plainview will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Plainview. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be in the Eden Valley Cemetery in rural Plainview. Jean died February 9, 2012 at the Plainview manor.

Jean Maxine Hoffart, daughter of Viola and Ralph Lund was born September 11, 1927 at Creighton Nebraska. Jean was baptized at her Grandparents Gelster’s home in West Point, NE. She had two older brothers, Ray and Robert. When Jean was three years old her family moved to Plainview for a short time then back to Creighton. When she was in the 4th grade her family moved to Bazile Mills, NE. Jean Attended school there and in Creighton. She worked at the Creighton Pharmacy and the Creamery as a bookkeeper.

On March 12, 1948 she married Robert L. Hoffart. The couple farmed the Hladik farm for several years and then moved to the Hoffart family farm in Plainview. Jean enjoyed gardening, sewing, and quilting; and her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was a avid reader and enjoyed watching the Cubs and the Huskers on television.

Jean will be remembered by her family as a gentle, loving, and hard working lady. Before moving to the Plainview Manor approximately 3 ½ years ago she had a Pug dog named Bruno who she spoke about daily. Jean was a member of Our savior’s Lutheran Church, the VFW and Legion Auxiliary, and while at the manor she served as the President of the Residence Council.

Survivors include daughters Kathy Herian and husband Joe of Norfolk, Glenda McGrew and her husband Dave of Norfolk, son Rick Hoffart and wife Myra of Omaha, her grandchildren: Tiffani Herian Fox, Brandi Kander & Ryan, Mitch Herian & Minja, Tara Fritz & David, Jim Hoffart & Wanda, Ray Hoffart, Tom Hoffart and Andrea; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Ruth & Jerry Griffith from Oregon and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Robert: two brothers, Robert and Raymond; one grandchild, Doug Geiger; and parent-in-laws, Jake & Mabel Hoffart.
