Genevieve (Jean) Hoffman

Funeral Service will be held for Genevieve (Jean)Mildred Weeder Hoffman,age 94, of Plainview, on Saturday,May 19th, at the St. Paul Catholic Church in Plainview with Rev. Keith Rezac officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7:30 P.M., Friday, May 18th at the Ashburn Funeral Home in Plainview with Rosary to follow at 7:30 P.M.
Burial will be in the St. Paul/St. Ignatius cemetery in Plainview. Genevieve died May 12, 2012 at the Plainview Hospital.

Jean was born February 22, 1918, in Humphrey, NE to Adolph and Rose Poeffel Weeder. She died at the Plainview Hospital on May 12, 2012 following a stroke at her home on April 20th. Jean was 94 years old.

The family moved to Osmond in 1924. She attended St. Mary's Catholic School. On March 2, 1943, Jean married Edward Hoffman at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Osmond. They farmed one year near Osmond and then purchased a farm northeast of Plainview where they lived for 34 years. They retired from farming in 1974 and moved to Plainview in 1978. Ed and Jean were married 45 years. She belonged to St. Paul's Catholic Church and was active in Altar Society. She worked for ten years at the Plainview Manor.

Her many interests included her church, card clubs, garden club, bingo, quilting, cake decorating, traveling, and attending her grandchildren's many activities. She served her community by volunteering at the Social Center and serving on its board, delivering meals on wheels until age 90, and praying the rosary with Plainview Manor residents.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed in 1989, two brothers, Edwin and Mark; four sisters, Marie Hoffman, Sister Richardine, Dorothy Weeder, and Sister Loretta; Shane Palm, husband of granddaughter Krista Palm; and infant twin great grandsons, Trevor and Brady Lingenfelter.

She is survived by five daughters, Linda (Larry) Dunkel of Lansing, MI; Cheryl (Kent) Lingenfelter of Plainview,NE; Miki Petersen and Pat Drummond of Omaha, NE; and Edye (Mark) Eichberger of Norfolk, NE. Grandchildren and great grandchildren include: Jay Dunkel, Wendy Dunkel and Garfield of Lansing, MI; Krista Palm and Kyra, Nathan, and Ava of Missouri Valley, IA; Kevin (Kelly) Lingenfelter and Karter, Kohen, and Karalyn of Plainview, NE; Kyle (Amanda) Lingenfelter and Landen and Logan of Lincoln, NE; Andrea (Tom) McGregor and Cole of Norfolk,NE; Jesse Petersen of New Orleans, Louisiana; Mandy (Josh) Ricci, Peyton and Madison of Plattsmouth, NE; Adam Petersen and Ellen Petersen of Omaha, NE; Samantha Drummond, Genevieve and Lily of Omaha, NE; and Lee Drummond of Omaha. Sister, Lorraine Nissen of Plainview and brother, Andrew Weeder (Annabelle) of Osmond; and many other relatives and friends.
