Irene L. Petersen

Funeral services for Irene L. Petersen age 87 of Holton, KS formerly of Osmond will be held 2:00 PM. Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Osmond. Burial will be in the Osmond City Cemetery. Visitation for Irene will be one hour prior to service at the United Methodist Church in Osmond.

Irene Louise (Tille) Petersen, the daughter of Isaac and Adelaide (Breedlove) Tillman, was born August 26, 1925 in Hamburg, Iowa. She died on September 11, 2012 at The Pines of Holton, KS at the age of 87. Tille was raised in Hamburg, Iowa. Tille married Byron James (Pete) Petersen on June 14, 1947. To this marriage, four sons were born. Their marriage saw them travel to Texas, Nebraska, Missouri, and Minnesota where Pete worked as a lineman and electrician and Tille did office work and was a homemaker. Practicing her faith was a very important aspect of her life and she was a member of Methodist faith in the different communities she lived in. She enjoyed reading, fishing, working on puzzles, mentoring young people crocheting and sewing. After Tille and Pete retired, they enjoyed traveling the United States visiting friends and family. Upon her husband’s death, she remained in Osmond, Nebraska until she moved to Hoyt, KS to be closer to her eldest son, Jim and his family. She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dane Joel Petersen; her brother, Donald Tillman; and her husband, Byron James Petersen. She is survived by James Petersen and wife Sherrie of Hoyt, KS; Mark Petersen and wife Penny of Longmont, CO; and Bren Petersen and wife Tana of Missoula, MT; and two grand-daughters: Heather Rose Bacon( husband Scott) of Topeka, KS; and Sara Petersen of Missoula, Mt.; brother-in-law, Dwayne Petersen, and sister-in-laws, Carole Petersen and Donna Rieken; nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and close friends, Arleath Blunck, Bill and Bonny Korth and Paul and Barb Reineke, all from Nebraska.

May God bless her memory and give strength to those who mourn. Funeral Service will be held at Ashburn Funeral Home in Osmond, NE at 11:00 a.m on September 15, 2012. Burial in Osmond City Cemetery, Osmond, NE, Rev. Kevin Burkhardt, Officiating. Visitation with the family will be at 10:00 a.m.at Ashburn Funeral Home. A memorial is being established in Tille’s name for the Hoyt Methodist Church, Hoyt, KS and the Osmond United Methodist Church, Osmond, NE . Ashburn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Memorial service in Kansas will be set for a later date.
