Helen Hoffart (Plainview)

Helen Hoffart, age 90, passed away on Wednesday October 3, 2012 at the Eastmont Towers Assisted Living ( the Seasons) in Lincoln , Nebraska. Helen was born in Creighton, Nebraska on August 9, 1922 to Blanche and Louis Hilkemeier. She was one of ten children.

Helen lived most of her adult life in Plainview, Nebraska before moving to the Seasons in Lincoln in 2008.
She was united in marriage to Merle H. Hoffart on July 17, 1944. To this union three sons were born. Helen worked for the Coast to Coast Hardware Store, the Ideal Market, and the Associated Milk Producers Inc. (AMPI) retiring in 1984.

Helen was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved her family dearly and she thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing with her brothers and sisters about their childhood. For many years Helen bowled, golfed, and attended the sporting events of her sons and grandchildren. Watching the Chicago Cubs and Big Red Football, was among her favorite pastimes.

Helen was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Plainview. She lived a faithful Christian life. She is survived by her three sons and their spouses: Terry and Pat of Stromsberg, Jim and Janice of Ravenna, Ron and Carol of Lincoln, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by brother Donnie ( Adonna) of San Antonio, TX. sister Delores (John) Tharnish of Lincoln, brothers and sisters in law: Paul Ellingson, Gene and Janice Cromwell all of of Lincoln, Warren and Ruth Hoffart of Norfolk, Keith and Donna Lerum of Plainview, Ervin and Marian Hoffart of Needham, MA. and Henry and Lorraine Hoffart of Peoria, AZ. Helen leaves behind many friends in Plainview and Lincoln.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Merle, one grandson Kelly Hoffart, brothers Bob, Delbert, and Dale Hilkemeier and sisters Ruth and Eloise Poppe, Alice Ellingson , and Betty Cromwell.

Services will be at 2:00 pm on Monday October 8th at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Plainview with viewing and visitation with the family one hour prior to the service. The family wishes for Memorials to be to Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Plainview, NE. or to the Season's Program and Events Dept. of Eastmont Towers, Lincoln NE.
