Everett "Tuffy" Beckman (Creighton)

Memorial Services for Everett “Tuffy” Beckman, age 74, of Creighton will be held Saturday, November 10th , at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Ludgers Catholic Church in Creighton. There will be a Memorial Time from 5-7 P.M. on Friday, November 9th, at the St. Ludgers Catholic Church in Creighton with a Rosary at 7 P.M. Everett passed away November 7, 2012 at the Sacred Hear Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota.

Everett “Tuffy” Beckman, son of Ed and Augusta (Krienert) Beckman was born July 27, 1938 near Creighton. He lived in the Creighton area all his life. He graduated from St. Ludgers Academy in 1956. On June 9, 1958 he married Shirley Shearer at the St. Ludgers Catholic Church. They were blessed with three children: Everett Dale, Susan Kay and Michael Lee. The couple farmed near Creighton for over 35 years and Tuffy also managed the bowling alley for 17 years. After farming he went to work for Ken Porter Construction in Norfolk until his illness in July. Tuffy enjoyed his years of stock car racing and many years at the river with family and friends.

Tuffy is survived by his wife, Shirley, of 54 years, son Everett and Rhonda of Norfolk, daughter Susie and husband Rick McManigal of Center, son Mike and Fiancé Susan of Creighton, brother Lloyd and sister Pauline Brinkman, sister-in-law Betty Nielsen, life-long friends Tony and Maggie Lindhorst, 4 grandsons, 2 granddaughters, and 3 great-granddaughters, and 1 great-grandson, as well as many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Tuffy was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Eva Beckman, and brother-in-laws Lewis Brinkman, Roland Nielsen, and Danny Shearer.
