George F.C. Wacker

Funeral services for George F.C. Wacker, age 108, of Plainview, Nebraska will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview. Services will be at 1:30 P.M., Wed. Dec 19th with visitation 1 hour prior to service. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in rural Plainview. George left his earthly home and entered his eternal glory on Saturday, Dec. 15th at the Plainview Hospital.

George was born May 12, 1904, the eighth child out of nine to George J. and Marie (Engel) Wacker. He was baptized by Pastor Merz on May 22, 1904. George attended country school his early grades and then Zion Lutheran School. George was confirmed June 8, 1914.

George farmed with his father and brothers until 1929 when he then went to work at the Standard Oil Station at Bloomfield. On June 25, 1939 George married Hertha Buchholz. Their union was blessed with three children. Darlene (Mrs. Ken Stelling), Emmelyn (Mrs. Conrad Gutz) and Dennis Wacker and wife, Imogene, all of Plainview.

The couple farmed southeast of Plainview until 1970 when they retired into town. George was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Plainview all of his life serving on many boards and offices.

George was loved by his family for his sense of humor, hard work, and kind heart. At the age of 108, it is finally time to give him up to the arms of Jesus, although he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Hertha, in 1998 after 59 years of wedded life; his eight brothers and sisters, Forest, Minnie, Ed, Ernest, Louise, Bill, Freda, and Carl; one infant grand-daughter, Lynette Gutz; one grand-daughter-in-law, Kim Stelling; and one great-grandson, Luke Williams.

He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Ken and Darlene Stelling, Conrad & Emmelyn Gutz, and Dennis & Imogene Wacker; 12 grandchildren and their spouses, 26 great grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.
