Clara W Johnson (Brunswick)

Services for Clara W. Johnson, 90, of Brunswick, NE were held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 13th, 2013 at the Congregational Church in Brunswick. Rev. Bob Moore officiated. Interment was held at the Greenwood Cemetery at Creighton, NE. Clara passed away on Sunday, February 10th, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh, NE.

Clara W. Bohren was born to Louise & Fred Bohren on June 15th, 1922 at their farm home near Center, NE. She grew up on the family farm and attended school at Center. After her graduation in 1940, she worked at the courthouse in Center and later at the grocery store. She also worked for a family doing housecleaning, cooking, and caring for children.

She was united in marriage to Dale Johnson at the Community Church in Brunswick on December 24th, 1944. To this union two daughters were born; Gaye Smith of Brunswick and Mavis Johnson of Neligh. Their marriage of 60 years was spent on their farm south of Brunswick. Clara worked hard and took great pride in keeping the farmstead looking immaculate. She also loved cooking wonderful meals for her family and will always be remembered for her homemade angel food cakes and delicious apple pies. Clara also held several church offices and was a member of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, and taking trips and cruises.

Survivors include her daughters Mavis Johnson of Neligh and Gaye (Marvin) Smith of Brunswick; grandchildren Brenda (Jerry) Schumacher and Marcus (Lisa) Smith of Omaha; great grandchildren David Schumacher of Lincoln, McKayla Schumacher of Omaha and Trenton and Ellie Smith of Omaha; sister Eda Johnson of the Golden Living Center in Neligh; along with many other family and friends.

Preceding her in death were here husband, Dale; parents; sister, Amelia Rumm; brother, Fred Bohren; two nieces and a nephew.
