Esther M. Hauf (Orchard)

Funeral services for Esther (Trease) Hauf, 84, will be held Friday, March 1st at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Orchard at 10:00 am with burial to be held at Orchard Hill Cemetery following the services. Visitation hours will be from 5:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, February 28th at St. Peter Lutheran Church, with officiating Pastor Marcel Kohlmeyer. Funeral arrangements are made by Ashburn Funeral Home of Plainview.

Esther Mae (Trease) Hauf was born to Jacob and Mary (Bleakney) Trease on September 20, 1928 in Orchard, NE.

On October 3, 1948, Esther married Lawrence Rolan Hauf at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Orchard. They made their home south of Orchard, where they lived together for over 60 years. To this union 3 children were born: Linda, Kathy, and Roger.

She had great love and dedication to the farm and her family. Her hard work ethic was evident in her gardening, baking, and her dairy herd. Not only was she a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, but she also cared deeply about her neighbors and community. As a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church, she was involved in the Ladies Aide, and she also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary.

Esther died Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Plainview Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, her parents, a grand daughter in infancy, and siblings Bernard, Bernice, and Ralph.

Survivors include 3 children and their families. Linda & Bob Hixson of Howe, TX; Kathy & Steve Belik of Orchard; and Roger & Darla Hauf of Clearwater. 11 grandchildren: Leandra (Gene) Valdez, Angie (Lyle) Larsen, Melinda (Elliott) Valdez, Michelle (Gabe) Bender, Amber (Dave) Hardwick, Tiffany (Jay) Kraft, Aimee Hauf (Jeremiah Bartak), Brock Belik, Ashley, and Aaron Hauf. 11 great grandchildren: Kaelen & Ethan Valdez, Derek & Evan Larsen, Collin & Brittany Valdez, Gavin & Pryce Bender, Kaden & Parker Kraft, and Bree Bartak; along with many relatives and friends.
