Gladys Marie Schlote (Plainview)

Funeral services for Gladys Schlote age 85 of Plainview will be held at 2:00 PM. Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Plainview.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM. on Wednesday, April 9th at the Ashburn Funeral Home in Plainview. Gladys died April 8, 2013 at the Osmond General Hospital.

Gladys Marie (Heese) Schlote was born on September 1, 1927 to Herman and Elsie (Jurchen) Heese at their home northeast of Laurel, Nebraska. She was baptized on September 18, 1927, and confirmed on June 9th, 1940, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge, Nebraska by Pastor Niederwimmer. Gladys received her education at Cedar County School in 1944 and Norfolk Jr. College in 1946 with a diploma in elementary education. Gladys taught one year at Logan Center School, rural Laurel, Nebraska and two years at Plainview Public School, Plainview. Nebraska.

One June 1, 1947 Gladys married Herman Schlote of Plainview, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge. They lived in Plainview for two years, before moving to a farm northeast of Laurel for twelve years. While living there, they were blessed with six children. In 1961 they moved to a farm north of Plainview, where they resided for the rest of their lives. Gladys was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview, where she participated in choir, Ladies Aid, Sunday School and weekly Bible class that met in homes of the ladies belonging.

Gladys is survived by her children: Wesley of Norfolk, Keith (Bonnie) of Neligh, Bruce (Nancy0 of Plainview, Dona (Douglas) Thies of Norfolk, Dale (Tammy) of Norfolk, Dean (Nancy)of Plainview; thirteen grandchildren, three step grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; a brother Lloyd (Leola) Heese of Lincoln; sisters-in-law and spouses, Helen Dehning, Hazel (Gerald) Kumm, Hattie (Milford) Kumm, Verna Schlote; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Herman; daughter-in-law Paula (Wes)Schlote; brother Donald and wives, Audrey and Sandy of Denver, Colorado; brothers-in-law Harry Schlote, Harvey Schlote, Melvin Brown and Mervin Dehning; sisters-in-law Loretta Schlote and Hilda Brown.
