Terrance Bruns was born June 22, 1927 in Plankinton, South Dakota to parents Theodore and Mary (Merscher) Bruns. He passed away on June 22, 2013, at the Plainview Manor. Terrance attended Turner Country School near Plankinton and farmed with his brothers on the home place until 1951. In his youth, he enjoyed hunting, trick riding, and spending time with his many dogs.
On June 9, 1949, Terrance married Lola Mae (Mohnen) at White Lake, South Dakota and to this union were born seven children: Ted, Ida, Iva, Roger, Francis, Carla, and Vernon. Terrance farmed at Wessington Springs and Chamberlain, South Dakota and then moved his family to Mitchell, South Dakota and worked for a farmer and implement dealer there. Terrance continued his farm work in the Plainview area starting in 1965 and ending in 1980 due to illness. In his retirement, Terrance loved to raise garden. It was his ambition to have his vegetables last from one year to the next and still have some to sell locally. He was an expert Pinochle and Checkers player and taught all of his children the value of carefully thought out play.
Terrance Bruns was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers: Gerrad, Paul, Francis, Donald, and Charles, two sisters: Josephine and Vivian and his son, Ted.
