Memorial Services for Helen M. Foster age 88 of Plainview will be held at 2:00 PM. Nov. 7th at the United Methodist Church in Plainview.
Helen Foster was born on July 18, 1925 to Truman and Lillie (Goldsmith) Mauck on the Mauck homestead 6 miles southwest of Plainview. She passed away Monday, November 4, 2013 at the Plainview Manor.
Helen attended rural school, District 66, and graduated from Plainview High School in 1942. After high school, she taught at the Breslau School District. Later she began a photography career working in a Norfolk studio. She then attended Tasope School of Photography and did apprentice work at Lenerd Studio in Aurora, Missouri. After returning to Plainview, Helen went into business partnership with her brother, Harold Mauck, and started Mauck Studio. While in business, Helen attended various schools in Oklahoma, Minnesota and Indiana for color artists specializing in oils and color correction. She was privileged to attend the Professional Photographers of America Artists class in Winona Lake, Indiana as well. Helen was a life member of the Professional Photographers of Nebraska, serving as an officer in the Nebraska Artists Association.
Helen was married June 28, 1953 to Earl Foster in Plainview. They celebrated 60 years of marriage this past June. To this union was born a son, Randy, and a daughter, Rhonda. Helen continued doing oil painting and color correction for several studios across Nebraska. In 1975, her son, Randy, opened Randy Foster Photography in Creighton, Nebraska and Helen joined his team as a color artist until she retired in 1984. Since that time, Helen enjoyed traveling with Earl and spending time with family. Over the years, Helen’s faith was most important to her, having accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior as a small child.
Helen is survived by her husband Earl, of Plainview, son Randy and wife Candace of Omaha, daughter Rhonda and husband Randy Allen, of Elm Creek, four grandchildren, TJ and Josh Foster of Omaha and Carissa Allen of Kearney and Jack Allen of Elm Creek, and brother in law Harold Foster of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Harold, her sister Louise, sister in law Tina Mauck and niece Barbara Way.
Private family graveside service was held at the Pleasant View Cemetery.
