Bernice "Bernie" Ella Osberg

Funeral Services for Bernice “Bernie” Osberg will be held at 1 PM. March 29, 2014 at the Ashburn Funeral Home in Plainview. Visitation will be prior to service from 11:00 am. until service time at the Funeral Home in Plainview with Burial in the Pleasant View Cemetery.

Bernice Ella Osberg, 92 longtime resident of Plainview, died March 25, 2014 at the Norfolk Veterans Home. She was born January 26, 1922 in Parkston, S.D. to John and Wilhelmina Schelske. She attended Capital Beauty School in Omaha and then married Eldon “Ozzie” Osberg June 2, 1945.

The couple then moved to Plainview and operated Bernie and Ozzies Beauty and Barber Shop for 40 years. They were Charter members of Zion Lutheran Church. They bowled on couple’s league for years and belonged to the Throttle Twisters Motorcycle Club and enjoyed many trips on their Harley Davidson. The couple also had a home in McAllen, Texas where she painted many beautiful pictures. Later the couple moved to Omaha where they lived until they moved to the Veterans Home in Norfolk.

Survivors include her husband Eldon “Ozzie” of 68 years; 3 daughters, Jerry (Chuck) Smith of Henderson, NV; Joan (Rolly) Hoffart and June Bauman both of Omaha; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters Rosie and Alice.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
