Jerry Lynn Retzlaff (Plainview)

Funeral services for Jerry Lynn Retzlaff age 71 of Plainview will be held Saturday, June 21st at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Plainview. Burial will be in the Oakdale Cemetery in Oakdale, Nebraska. Visitation for Jerry Retzlaff will be one hour prior to service at the United Methodist Church in Plainview. Military Honors will be conducted by Osmond American Legion and VFW. Jerry passed away June 17, 2014 at the Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Jerry Lynn Retzlaff, Husband of Theresa Retzlaff passed away June 17th, 2014 at the Arbor Manor in Fremont, NE. He was born August 21st, 1942 in his grandmother’s home in Gordon, NE. Jerry is proceeded in death by his parents; Laurence R. Retzlaff and Gladys M. (Forster) Retzlaff, his brothers Paul, Billy and Dwaine Retzlaff. Survivors include his wife Theresa Retzlaff, his brother Rodger Retzlaff and wife Kathy, son Jeffery Retzlaff and wife Julie, daughters; Rachael Tullis and husband Jonathan, and Michele Knuth and husband Jeremy, and his eight grandchildren.

Jerry was a retired Navy Veteran, honored as a Chief Petty Officer and a life member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was active duty during Desert Shield/Desert Storm and the Kosovo Operation, and Operation Allied Force.

Jerry worked in the dairy industry most of his life, milking cows; he also worked as a Plant Superintendent for Roberts Dairy in Omaha and Lincoln, NE. As well a Dairy Inspector for the Nebraska Department of Agriculture for 28 years, retiring July 30th, 2008.

After retiring Jerry was a volunteer for the Red Cross, serving as a First Responder on the Disaster Action Team and the American Legion. He was active in the local Legion Post and serving as Pierce County Vic Commander, District 2 Vice Commander, and District 2 Commander.
