Eldon "Ozzie" Maynard Osberg, 87, longtime Plainview resident, died October 28, 2014, at the Norfolk Veterans Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM. Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Ashburn Funeral home in Plainview with burial in the Plesant View Cemetery.
Visitation for Ozzie will be from 10 AM. until service time Saturday, November 1 at the Ashburn Funeral Home.
He was born November 1, 1926, in Genoa, NE, to John and Ruth Osberg.
Ozzie entered the Navy during WWII from 1944-1946. After the war he attended Capitol Beauty and Barber School in Omaha where he met Bernie Schelske. They married June 2, 1946.
The couple then moved to Plainview and operated Bernie and Ozzie's Beauty and Barber Shop for 40 years.
They were Charter members of Zion Lutheran Church.
Ozzie was also a lifetime member of the Plainview American Legion Post 148.
He liked to hunt and fish. They bowled on the couple's league for years, belonged to the Throttle Twisters Motorcycle Club, and enjoyed many trips on their Harley Davidson. The couple also had a home in McAllen, Texas, where they wintered in their retirement years.
Later, the couple moved to Omaha where they lived until they moved to the Veterans Home in Norfolk.
Survivors include three daughters: Jerry (Chuck) Smith of Henderson, Nev; Joan (Rolly) Hoffart, and June Bauman, both of Omaha; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Gladys.
Ozzie was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bernie, of 67 years, his parents, a brother Erland, and a sister Pearl
