Clyde “Sonny” Otto Robinson Jr.. Son of Clyde and Thelma (Sidener) Robinson.
Born July 1, 1922 in Plainview NE.
Sonny attended the Dist. 99 Copenhagen Country School and graduated from Plainview Public School 1939 at the age of 16. After graduation he attended machinist school in Des Moines, Iowa. In January 1944 he entered the United States Navy. While in the Navy he attended the University of Illinois studying diesel mechanics. He served as a Motor Machinist’s Mate, Third Class in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of War serving aboard the LSM 359. He married Dorthy Miller on October 26, 1944. After his discharge from the U. S. Navy they made their home in Plainview until 1956. At that time they relocated to Denver, Colorado where he worked for Sundstrand Aviation Company. In 1965 he was transferred to Keyport, Washington working on the Mark 48 torpedo program then later he was again transferred to Rockford, Illinois where he remained until he retired in 1984.
Following his retirement he returned to Plainview, NE. During his retirement he enjoyed woodworking, golfing, fishing with his grandsons, bowling, spending winters in Texas and mowing his lawn, that he took great pride in. He was a long time member of the Clair Fryer American Legion Post 148.
After the loss of his first wife Dorthy in 1993 he married to Marvetta Walton in 1994.
He is survived by his children Judy Kopp, Niobrara, James Robinson, Winnebago, Illinois and Lisa Robinson and Skip Meyer, Tilden. Grandsons Robert and Bobbi Kopp, Sioux Falls, Brian & Heather Kopp, Yankton SD, Great Granddaughter Sloane, Sisters Velma Decker, Yankton, SD and Bonnie Wendt, Plainview. Step Children Jeanette and Phillip Baush, Allen and Lauren Walton and Julie and Gary Wohlman.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, wife Dorthy and second wife Marvetta.
