———

Edna Wilhelmina Raff (Zuhlke) was born south of Brunswick on the family farm on Oct. 13,1920. She was the daughter of August and Bertha (Bonow) Zuhlke. She attended District 35 school. Edna married Lester Raff on Nov. 28, 1942, and they had their only son, Robert, on Sept. 23,1943.

Lester and Edna lived on a farm 13 miles north of Orchard from 1945 to 1955, then moved to Orchard where they lived for the next 52 years. Edna was very active in her church and community. She was a member of St. Peters Lutheran church in Orchard for most of her life. She enjoyed quilting with the church ladies. Her other joys of life were taking care of babies, gardening, cooking, canning, traveling, playing cards, fishing and walking the creek searching for that special rock or fossil. Edna cherished her time spent with her family and friends.

Lester, her husband, passed away in 2001 after 58 years of marriage. Several years later, in 2007, she moved to Lincoln to be closer to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was residing at Madonna in Lincoln where she passed away at the age of 94.

Edna is survived by her son, Robert Raff of Polk; four granddaughters and their husbands, Pam (John) Turnipseed of Lincoln, Linda (Neil) Jacobson of Malcolm, Lisa (Tom) Keller of Malcolm, Rebecca (Michael) Cintani of Lincoln; and six great-grandchildren, Christopher and Tyler Jacobson, Katelin and Colton Keller, and Alijah and Emily Turnipseed.

Edna is proceeded in death by her husband, Lester; her parents, August and Bertha Zuhlke; and brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Dorothy Zuhlke. Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
