Paul Arthur Repenning (Plainview)

Funeral services for Paul Repenning will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wed. November 11th at the Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM. on Tuesday Nov. 10th at the Ashburn Funeral Home in Plainview with burial in the Bega Cemetery in rural Stanton.

Paul Arthur Repenning was born March 1st, 1934 on a farm southwest of Bloomfield in rural Knox county to Alwin and Elsie (Gnewuch) Repenning. When he was young he was given the nickname "Dutch" by his older brother Leslie.

Paul was a lifelong member of First Trinity Lutheran Church of Bloomfield where he was baptized, confirmed and held several positions. Recently he transferred his membership to Zion Lutheran of Plainview.

He attended Kemma Community School and Bloomfield High School. Paul was drafted into the Army and served in Alabama and Washington State. He was honorably discharged and returned to Knox County to farm and raise black Angus cattle with his parents. He was an avid horseman and a leader of the Commoncheros 4-H saddle club.

In the mid 1970's Paul became a substitute rural mail carrier and eventually became full time. He worked out of the Creighton and Plainview post offices and retired after 29 years of service.

He and Ruth Ann Milburn were married February 11, 1982 at the Lutheran church in Stanton. Ruth Ann introduced Paul to goats. They shared many interesting and good times together with their goats, they also met many kind people and were known at the "The Goat People". In the mid 1990's Paul and Ruth Ann gradually moved to their acreage on the edge of Plainview.

Ruth Ann passed away in 2009. Paul continued to live at the acreage with the help of many kind friends until October 28th when he suffered a stroke. He was admitted to the Plainview hospital and passed away in the early hours of November 7th.

He is survived by a nephew Randall Repenning of Wausa and his finance^ Marci Roth of Norfolk. Step-children Terry (Faith) Milburn of Tilden and Teena Sandler of Gallatin, Missouri, 3 step-grandchildren and 1 step-great grand child along with several cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alwin and Elsie Repenning, his brother Leslie Repenning, and his wife Ruth Ann Repenning.
