Funeral services for Iona D. Trease age 86 of Neligh formerly of Orchard will be held Saturday, January 16th, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Orchard. Burial will be in the Orchard Hill Cemetery. Visitation for Iona Trease will be held Friday January 15, 2016 form 5-7 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Orchard.
Iona was born July 5, 1929 in Orchard NE to Albert and Emma (Cahoy) Nagel. She passed away January 13, 2016 peacefully with family at her side.
Iona graduated from Orchard High School in 1946. She was united in marriage to Ralph Trease on November 25, 1949 and were blessed with two sons Gary and Greg.
Over the years she worked as a waitress, ran the A&E drive-in café, and OHS school lunch program. Iona was known for all of her many talents. She enjoyed baking cinnamon rolls, buns, and wedding cakes. Her seamstress abilities were many as she sewed for grand children as well as Western shirts for the family band named the “Night Winds”. She was a talented musician playing the keyboard in the band.
Iona and Ralph continued giving of their musical abilities entertaining at numerous nursing facilities and churches through out the years.
Iona loved her farm life, raising her own chickens, large garden, strawberry patch and many flowers.
She is survived by her devoted sons Gary (Vickie) Trease of Neligh and Greg (Mary) Trease of Norfolk;
her beloved grand children: Brandon (Mollie) Trease of Bloomington, IL, Crystal (Patrick) Halvorsen of Columbus, Randi (Chad) Seitz of Fremont, Jennifer (Bill) Redler, Jessica (Jeremy) Koehler, Jennifer Kolker all of Omaha, Bryan Jessen of Thorton, Co. and 15 great grandchildren.
Iona was preceded in death by her husband Ralph, parents, one brother Dr. Henry Nagel and wife Blanche.
