Funeral services for Henry Stark, 92, of Plainview will be held on Friday, February 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview with the Pastor Jerome Leckband officiating. Henry died on February 8 at the Plainview Hospital. Visitation will be Thursday, February 11 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Zion cemetery east of Plainview. Ashburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Henry Frank Herman Stark was born January 16, 1924 to Frank and Adele (Pfanstiel) Stark south of Plainview. He was baptized February 3, 1924 at St. Paul Lutheran church of rural Plainview. He was confirmed on April 4, 1937 at St. Paul Lutheran church.
He attended District 23 until 9th grade when he went to District 12. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1941.
After graduation he farmed with his father on the family farm south of Plainview. On January 14, 1961 he became vice-president of Pierce County Farmer’s Mutual Insurance. On January 19, 1963 he became president of Pierce County Farmer’s Mutual Insurance and on May 7, 1969 he became secretary/treasurer/manager of the company until his retirement in February, 2002.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where he served in many offices and was a member of numerous organizations.
Henry was President of the Pierce County Fair for many years as well as being a 4-H leader. He was also a member of the Plainview Historical Society, Plainview City Council and Chamber of Commerce. He was a member and President of the Nebraska Re-Insurance Board from 1969 until February 2003.
He is survived by his sister, Delores Kumm of McLean. Nephews Jim (Diann) Goetz and Henry (Jan) Goetz of Plainview and niece Janis (Neal) Kurtz of O’Neill whom he helped raise. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Adele, brother, Harold and sisters, Edna Stark, Mildred Kropp, Martha Luehrs and Lucille
