Wilma M. Vinson (Foster)

Services for Wilma (Duerst) Vinson age 101 of Foster will be held Saturday, October 8th at 10:00 am. At the Trinity Lutheran Church in Foster. Visitation will be Friday from 4-6 P.M. at the Ashburn Funeral Home in Plainview. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk, NE. Wilma passed away October 3rd at the Plainview Hospital.

Wilma Magdaline Ida (Duerst) Vinson daughter of Gust and Laura (Zahn) Duerst was born November 28, 1914 near Snyder, NE. She was baptized at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Snyder. In 1916 when she was almost 2 years old she and her family moved to a farm East of Foster, NE. Wilma attended Country School and Foster Jr. High School. She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Foster in 1927 and graduated from Pierce High School in 1933.

Wilma married Olivier Vinson June 4th, 1933. The couple farmed 1 mile North of Foster and raised their three children Elaine, Dennis and Erma. Wilma spent her married life as a homemaker and was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid.

In 1976 Wilma and her husband moved to their home in Foster. The couple loved to travel. They took many fishing trips to Canada with their dear friends. They enjoyed dancing at Kings Ballroom in Norfolk. Wilma was an avid bowler for over 40 years going twice a week. She finally hung up her shoes at the age of 86. Wilma also enjoyed her flower garden and visits from family and friends.

Wilma is survived by daughters Elaine (Plainview Manor) Erma Wiechen, (Clarkson, NE.) son Dennis and wife Sharon (Foster, NE). Grandchildren Kelly (Jim) Lichtenberg of Keystone, SD. Regina (Dennis) Davin of Newbern, Tenn. and Clark (Mary) Vinson of Foster, NE. Greatgrandchildren Jeremy Lichtenberg, Nathan (Terin) Vinson, Sheila (Brad) Hoesing, Shawn (Laura) Vinson, Danielle (Andrew) Stech, Austin Vinson, Brook (Matt) Doss, Kymberly and Shane Childers, Christina and Jess Frieman and Anna Davin. Great Great Grandchildren James and Jacob Lichtenberg, Patrick, Alex, Anabelle, Jaxon, Caleb, Michael, Alivia Vinson. Braydon, Colton, Rogan, Arianna Hoesing and Liam Stech.
