Funeral Services for David L. Anson age 94 of Norfolk formerly of Orchard will be held at 10:30 Saturday, April 1st at the United Methodist Church in Orchard. Burial will be in the Orchard Hill Cemetery. Visitation for David Anson will be one hour prior to service at the United Methodist Church in Orchard. David passed away March 27, 2017 at the Norfolk Veterans Home.
David L. Anson was born on October 13,1922 to Willard F. and Mary Jane (Pugh) Anson in Orchard Nebraska. He married Alma (Lovilla) Stevens in the Inman Methodist Church on May 6, 1943. Dave joined the US Navy in August 1944. He served the next two years during World War II aboard the USS Hughes and USS White Marsh. After returning home they bought a ranch in the Elkhorn Valley near Ewing Nebraska. It was a favorite gathering spot of all the nieces and nephews. He was a State Licensed Brand Inspector for 25 years which suited his love for cattle. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Orchard. They retired from ranching and moved to Orchard and later to Norfolk and O'Neill. After Lovilla's death in August 2009, Dave made the Norfolk Veteran's Home his home until his death there, March 27, 2017 at 94 years old.
Dave is survived by his sister Stella (Joe) Wies of Neligh and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents, Brothers Bernard (Marion), Albert (Irene) and Virgil "Gene" (Lacrete) and sisters Emma (Keith) Thelander and Zola (Virgil) Stark.
