She attended rural school in District #141 and was active in 4-H Club work as both a member and a leader.

She attended, worked at and graduated from the Grand Island Business College in Grand Island, and in April of 1939, she began working as a clerk-stenographer in the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, Washington D.C.

To obtain more education, she attended Roosevelt Night High School, graduated, and took several night classes at American University.

In June of 1968 she transferred from the Bureau of Labor Statistics as a Management Assistant to the Bureau of Mines, Department of the Interior, as a Management Technician, where she worked until her retirement in July of 1974.

Part of her summer days were used in working at a children’s camp in the football of the nearby mountains. She was also a member of the Brightwood Community Association.

While in the Washington area, she enjoyed visiting the many museums, the programs and indoor and outdoor concerts and theatres. She loved to travel, especially to many historical areas and places of beautiful scenery.

She returned to Plainview in late December of 1981, and became active in the Plainview United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, the Order of the Eastern Star, its Past Patrons Club, and was a Past Grandmother of the Rainbow Girls. She was also a member of the Plainview Woman’s Club, and a member and past president of Chapter FE, PEO.

In her declining years, she continued to enjoy the many places to visit and attend in Plainview, visiting with relatives and friends, especially her only sister, Mabel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Leonard and wife, Helen; Maurice and wife, Hilda; Everett and wife, Mary, of Bloomfield and Hubert and Dorthalie Kuhl of Plainview and, and sister, Mabel and husband, Philip Westrom, nephews and nieces.
