Lillian Irene was born on March 1, 1919 to Harry and Emma (Madurajski) Fuerhoff in Cuming County Nebraska, where she lived until she was a year old. When she was one, she moved to Pierce County with her parents and brother, Ervin, while brother Dennis was born 6 years later. Lillian attended country school and later St. Mary’s school for her elementary grades and graduated from Osmond High School in 1937. At its most recent alumni celebration, Lillian was recognized as Osmond’s oldest alumni.

Lillian married Wilfred Clayton in 1937 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. They were blessed with three children Vincent, Davin and Valerie. The couple began married life farming 80 acres south of Osmond. In 1944, the family moved 5 miles northeast of Osmond where lived until 1962 when they built a home in Osmond. Wilfred died in December, 1963 in a car-train accident while working for Theisen Construction near Seward, Nebraska.

Lillian began working at the then newly built Osmond Public school in the hot lunch program and was employed there for five years. After her time in the school kitchen, Lillian worked as the secretary of Gulf Farm Center on highway 20, across from the Redwood Inn where she also worked part time. In 1972, Lillian was hired to be the principal’s secretary at Osmond Public Schools. Lillian also filled in at the Osmond bowling alley and volunteered at the Osmond Public Library.
Lillian married Ed Weinrich in 1975. The couple operated a crop insurance business with Lillian working as the agent and Ed as the crop adjuster until Ed’s death in 1988.

Lillian was a life-long member of St. Mary’s parish, serving in its Guild and Christian Mothers organizations. Her faith was a central part of Lillian’s life and she instilled that strong faith in her children and grandchildren. In addition to her faith, Lillian loved spending time with her family, whether it be on a vacation road trip where she packed all the snacks, or a watching a tiger or Husker ballgame, she loved being together and was always sure to keep everyone on their toes with her quick wit. Lillian was very fond of her little town and helped a great deal with the “big black book” for the 1990 Centennial celebration and coined the winning motto. Lillian played in several card clubs and was a Monday night town bowler for many years. On Friday nights, Lillian could usually be found picking up her friends for a fish fry and maybe a glass of beer.

Lillian moved to Maple Hill Apartments in Osmond in 2002 and resided there until she moved the Countryside Villa in Wausa, Ne in 2015. While at Maple Hill and Countryside, Lillian made many cherished and treasured friendships.

Survivors include sons Vince (Mary Ann) Clayton of Loudon, TN, Dave Clayton of Omaha, 4 step children, Sisters in law Phoung Fuerhoff of St. Petersburg, FL, and Marvelyne Fuerhoff of Pierce, 10 grand-children and 19 great grand-children and numerous nieces and nephews.
