Joseph A. Wies Jr

Funeral services for Joseph A Wies age 84 of Neligh formerly of Orchard will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 29th at the United Methodist Church in Orchard with burial in the Orchard Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Orchard. Joe passed away September 24th at the Antelope Memorial Hospital.

Joseph A Wies Jr was born on January 13th, 1933 in Pierre South Dakota to Joseph A Wise Sr. and Laura Stokes Wies. Joe and his twin sister JoAnn were the youngest of seven children. They moved to rural Plainview when he was 14. He attended Plainview High School and was in the Army 1954 and 1955 he was stationed in Germany. After that time he came back to Orchard and farmed for many years doing custom baling.

He met Stella Anson Hall and married her June 17th, 1972. They had one daughter Christie. They owned and operated the Orchard Motel for twenty years. He also worked for many years as a carpenter. He had been a member of the American Legion and the Methodist Church in Orchard. After retirement he enjoyed gardening and was always puttering with something. He loved being Papa to his two granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife Stella and daughter Christie and Walter Counts. Granddaughters Krystal and Kendra. Donna and Darrell Hamilton and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Don, Dorothy, Elanor, Robert, Jerry, and JoAnn.
