Funeral services for James Broekemeier Jr., age 64, of Osmond, NE will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond. Burial will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Osmond. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday at the Immanuel Lutheran church in Osmond. Jim passed away January 7, 2018 on his farm in Osmond, NE.
James (Jim) (Brock) Louis Broekemeier was born August 26th, 1953 to James H. and Margaret (Behrens) Broekemeier in Plainview, NE. He grew up on the farm in rural Osmond with his parents and four siblings. Jim was baptized on September 20th, 1953 and confirmed on May 14th, 1967 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond, where he remained a life time member. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Osmond High School in 1971. He attended Northeast Community College in Norfolk, NE and graduated with a degree in diesel mechanics. Jim continued to farm during school and throughout his life.
Jim married Deb Promes of Wynot, NE on November 20th, 1976. The couple continued to farm in rural Osmond near the family farm. Jim and Deb were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Terin, in 1979. Terin married Nathan Vinson in 2002 and Jim and Deb gained a cherished son and seven grandchildren. The families spent a lot of time together working and playing.
Jim was currently employed by the Fordyce Co-op in Fordyce, NE. He worked for various employers in the area through the years, while still continuing to farm. Jim loved spending time outdoors; farming, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed driving his tractor in parades. Jim had a love for horses and he and Deb were members of the Osmond Saddle Club. Jim and Deb also liked to bowl together and Jim was on a bowling league for many years. He liked a good cold Budweiser and a good laugh with friends.
Jim passed away at his home farm doing what he loved on January 7th, 2018, at the age of 64. Blessed to have shared his life are his wife, Deb Broekemeier of Osmond; daughter, Terin (Nathan) Vinson of Foster; seven grandchildren, Patrick, Alex, Anabelle, Jaxon, Caleb, Michael, and Alivia Vinson; his parents, James H. and Margaret Broekemeier of Osmond; mother-in-law, Alice (Promes) Beyeler of Jefferson City, MO; siblings, Susan (Tim) Lenhoff of Randolph, NE, Larry (Colette) Broekemier of Yankton, SD, Nyla (Dave) Jurrens of White, SD; brother-in-law, Joe Rumsey of Brunswick, NE; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon (Broekemeier) Rumsey; brother-in-law, Bob Promes; father-in-law, Ray Promes and Glenn (Tok) Beyeler; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
