Jerome Joseph Gubbels (Osmond)

Funeral services for Jerome Gubbels age 82 of Osmond will be held Saturday Nov. 28th at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic church in Osmond with burial in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation for Jerome Gubbels will be from 5-8 PM. on Friday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Osmond with Rosary at 7:30 PM.  The Osmond American Legion will be conducting military services.

Jerome Gubbels, 82, died November 25 ^{th at Osmond General Hospital after battling cancer. Jerome was born May 31, 1927 in Osmond, NE to Matt and Cecilia Gubbels. He was the 2nd oldest of 6 children. He farmed with his father and brothers until he was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps in 1952. After serving 2 years, he returned to farming. In 1960, he married JoAnn Meyer of Winnetoon, NE. Together they raised 5 children. Jerome became widowed in 1999 after losing his wife to cancer. He continued farming until 2004 when he semi -retired and moved to the town of Osmond. Some of Jerome’s favorite activities included: farm sales, state and county fairs, raising and riding horses, attending church services, and enjoying his grandchildren.}

Jerome is survived by his son Matt Gubbels, wife Christine and daughters: Gracia Sandvold , husband Jim, Loretta Frey, husband Andy, Debra Giberson, husband David, Cindy Portwood, husband Travis and 11 grandchildren. He is further survived by 2 brothers, 3 sisters, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
