Caryl C. Spatz (Plainview)

A celebration of life service for Caryl Spatz will be held Tuesday, February 23 at Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview at 2p.m. Visitation will be Monday, February 22 from 5- 7 p.m. at Ashburn Funeral Home.

Caryl C. Spatz, 78 of Plainview went home to heaven on Friday, February 19, 2010.
Caryl was born on September 28, 1931 to Harvey and Alma Kuhlman and grew up on a farm near Bloomfield, Ne. She attended elementary and high school at Bloomfield then went on to Wayne College to get her teaching certificate.
Caryl taught elementary school in Norfolk prior to her marriage to Wilber E. Spatz on November 25, 1954. After moving to Plainview she also taught in the schools there for several years.
Caryl and Wilber lived on the Spatz family farm south of Plainview where they were blessed with the births of Jonathan Wayne and Julie Anne. In 1958, they purchased a farm north of Plainview and then added to their family Colleen Marie and Richard Wilber. Caryl loved being a homemaker and caring for her family and friends. She always made birthdays and holiday a very special event. She enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening and flowers and giving away homemade baked items. She had fun going on family vacations and especially enjoyed their trip to Germany to meet relatives there. She was a rural mail carrier for 20 years.
In 1994, they moved into Plainview where she loved attending her weekly Bible study class and being involved in church ministries. Caryl and Wilber felt extremely blessed by the gift of life-long friendships and a caring church family.
She will always be remembered for her positive attitude, cheerful and grateful spirit, and a courageous faith during difficult circumstances.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her son Jonathan and daughter Julie.
Surviving are her beloved husband Wilber, daughter Colleen and husband Mark Brookhouser, son Richard and wife Elizabeth Spatz, daughter in law Leigh Ann Spatz, grandchildren John Spatz, Bobby Spatz, Ashton Spatz, Ann Hayes, Ashley Brookhouser, Alex Brookhouser , her brothers Paul and wife Dolores Kuhlman and Delbert Kuhlman, brother in law Ray Spatz and a special sister in law Connie Spatz along with many loved friends and relatives.
