Funeral Services for Harold Mauck will be 10:00 am. Wednesday June 23, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Plainview. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM. on Tuesday at the Ashburn Funeral Home in Plainview with Burial in the Pleasant View Cemetery.
Harold Mauck, 88, of Plainview passed away on June 18, 2010. He was born November 26, 1921 and grew up on the Mauck family farm west of Plainview. Harold served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. After his military service, Harold returned to Plainview and opened his first photography studio in the home of his aunt. His business grew and Harold and his wife Tina operated Mauck Studio for 39 years until his retirement in 1986.
In addition to being a successful photographer and businessman, Harold had an exemplary record of community service. He served as an officer of numerous civic organizations, including past president of the Plainview Chamber of Commerce (twice), and the Professional Photographers Association of Nebraska. He also was a long time member of the Professional Photographers of America. He received the Ak-Sar-Ben Good Neighbor award and the national award for service to professional photography in 1972. Harold was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran church in Plainview.
Harold’s hobbies included stock car racing and flying. He owned a Piper J-3 Cub, “Old Yellow”, which he used for aerial photography.
Harold lived an active and full life. Over the years, his acts of kindness and generosity touched thousands of lives. He will be missed.
He is survived by his sister, Helen Foster of Plainview; brother-in-laws Earl Foster of Plainview and Harold Foster of Omaha; son-in-law Dean Way of Lincoln; grandsons Chris and Kyle Way of Lincoln; nephews Randy and Steve Foster of Omaha; and nieces Rhonda Allen of Elm Creek and Rogene Gobel of Omaha. Preceding him in death were his parents, Lillie and Truman Mauck; his sister, Louise Foster; his daughter, Barbara Way; and his wife, Tina.
