Leroy Poellot (Plainview)

Funeral services for LeRoy Poellot age 82 of plainview will be held Friday at 10:00am. at the Immanuel Luther Church in Osmond. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation for LeRoy will be from 4-8PM. on Thursday at the Ashburn Funeral Home in Plainview.

LeRoy Poellot was born in Pierce County on March 30th 1928 to Herman and Laura (Weyhrich) Poellot. He attended rural school Dist. #68 in Pierce County.
LeRoy was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Pierce, by Pastor Scheips in 1941. He became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond in 1951. LeRoy enlisted in the navy in 1945 and served from then until 1947, serving in the South Pacific and Asia on a Repair ship. He was in the US Navel reserve from 1947 to 1955.
He married Shirley Thomsen in 1951, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond. LeRoy worked for a cattle feeder near Plainview, then moved to a farm near Foster and farmed from 1954 to 1997. He and Shirley retired and moved to Plainview in 1997.
LeRoy was a member of the American Legion Post #0326 and a Lifetime member of the VFW post #7838 in Osmond.
He enjoyed many years of fishing and hunting with family and friends. He loved the drop in company stopping by for a visit, cup of coffee or a game or two of cards.
LeRoy especially enjoyed seeing and visiting with Grandchildren and Great grandchildren. There was always a story to tell, joke to be told, and many memories made.

He is survived by: wife Shirley of Plainview, children Connie Woolf and husband Bruce of Benson, Arizona, Loren Poellot and special friend Julie Simmons of Osmond and Lori Risinger and husband Jim of Seneca, Kansas.
He has 7 Grandchildren and 2 step Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.
He is survived by 2 bothers: Allen of Wausa, NE and Clyde of LeMesa, California.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother and 1sisters.
