Lela Henry (Creighton)

Funeral services for Lela (Bridge) Henry age 93 of Creighton will be held at 2 PM. Friday Sept. 24th at the Ashburn Funeral Home in Plainview with visitation one hour prior to service at the funeral home.. Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Bazile Mills. Lela Henry passed away Sept. 21 at the Creighton Care Center.

Lela (Bridge Henry was born April 16, 1917 on a farm south of Orchard, NE. to Fred and Minnie Bridge. She was the younger of 5 children. Lela attended schools in Orchard and Neligh.

On March 12, 1940 she was married to Alfred Henry of Creighton, NE. in Omaha. After their marriage they operated a farm south of Creighton until 1947, at which time moved to the Nordan, Valentine area. A year later they moved to Corpus Christi, TX. And lived there a few years. In Dec. of 1955 the couple purchased the River Oak’s Motel in Medina, TX. and operated it until 1970. The couple then returned back to Creighton, NE. and established a home there.

Lela is preceded in death by her husband Alfred. Two sisters Mrs. Alice Leiding of Plainview, NE. and Mrs. Cynthia Taylor of Spalding, NE. Two brothers Dale of Fort Klamath, Oregon and Chester of Albin, WY. One Uncle Gorden Harvey of Orchard.

Lela is survived by many Nieces and Nephews
