Stuart I. Houston was born September 10, 1914 to Charles H. and Jennie Aird Houston in Plainview and entered his eternal rest on November 11, 2010 at Osmond General Hospital. He attended District 48 and graduated from Plainview High School in 1932. He married Geraldine Mather on January 17, 1936. To this union were born 4 children, Nancy, Mary, Barbara, and Charles.
He lived in and around the Plainview area his entire life. He farmed with his father until his father's death and then continued to farm until the late 1950's. While farming he and the late George Kirk were in partnership raising and selling registered black angus cattle. After leaving the farm he and his family moved to Plainview. He worked for the City of Plainview as a staionary engine operator at the City Light Plant. He also worked for S&A Feedlots and held many other part time jobs over the years.
He had many interests. He was an avid reader, especially interested in Native American History. He enjoyed horses and always had a pony for his grandchildren and any other child who wanted a ride. Stuart also enjoyed gardening and it gave him great pleasure to share the produce with anyone. After retiring he volunteered for several years at the Elementary School reading, helping with crafts and sometimes just listening to the children. This was something he really enjoyed. In later years he enjoyed woodworking. Anyone who ever needed any help with anything knew exactly who to call because Stuart would drop whatever he was doing to help. He truly loved his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and each one of them knew he was always there for them.
He leaves to mourn his passing his children, Nancy (Don) Hall, Mary (Jerry) Louthan, Barbara (Joe) Baggott and Charles (Linda) Houston, also 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren, his friend and roommate at Plainview Manor, Richard Miller, as well as other relatives and many many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine, parents Charles and Jennie, brothers Cameron, Wallace, and Dwight and sisters Mary Lee and Jennie Elizabeth, 2 grandsons Mark Houston and Neal Ashburn, great grandson Danie Rosetti and a son in law Lyle Ashburn.
Memorials at the discretion of the family.
