Memorial Services for Dean Wedgewood age 84 of Neligh, Ne were 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 1, 2011 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater, with Pastor Carroll Plisek, Officiating. Military Rites conducted by Clearwater Legion Post #267. Pallbearers were John Galloway, Gary Wolfe, Doug Bearinger, Dave Bearinger, Gary Siems, Gary Snodgrass, and Jack Jones. Burial will be at a later date at Merriman Cemetery at Merriman, Ne. Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater. Dean passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh.
Memorials can be directed to the United Methodist Church in Clearwater. Dean LeRoy Wedgewood was born on May 2, 1927 to Ross and Hazel (Shields) Wedgewood at St. Edward, Ne. He attended Neligh High School graduating with the class of 1944. Dean entered the United States Army on July 25, 1945 at Ft. Leavenworth, KS and was discharged on April 26, 1947 at Great Falls, Mt. On March 9, 1951 married Hazel Shook in Omaha, Ne. He lived at South Sioux City, IA for awhile. On October 10, 1999 he was united into marriage to (Ruby) Jean Bearinger at the Clearwater United Methodist Church. They made their home at Neligh, Ne. Dean was a truck driver and Salesman for most of his life. He was a member of Clearwater United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Jean of Neligh. Brother Darrell "Jim" Wedgewood of Louisiana. His step Children: Vedah Galloway, Judy Bearinger, Doug and wife Theresa Bearinger, Tonda and husband Roger Haynes, Janet and husband Gary Wolfe, Dave and wife Roberta Bearinger. Many family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents. His first wife, Hazel and a sister-in-law, Ardeth Wedgewood. Step son, Mack Galloway.
