Doris Georgiana Knievel

Funeral Services for Doris G. Knievel age 88 of Clearwater were at 10:30 am, Friday, September 15, 2006 at St. Theresa�s Catholic church in Clearwater with Father Bill Safranek officiating. Burial was in the St. Patrick�s Cemetery rural Clearwater. Pallbearers were Jerrell Knievel, Michael Knievel, Aaron Dinslage, Jeff Knievel, Jon Dinslage, and Peter Harmon. Music was provided by Bob Kester soloist and Rita Kester organist and the St. Theresa�s Church Choir. Visitation was from 4-6 pm Thursday at Snider Memorial Funeral Home and after 7 pm at the church with a 7:30 pm Scripture service. She passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Snider Memorial Funeral Home of Clearwater is in charge of the arrangements. Doris Georgiana Knievel was born July 23, 1918 at Neligh, Nebraska the daughter of Fred Wiegand and Georgiana McGee. She attended rural schools and graduated from Clearwater Public School with the class of 1935. She became a school teacher and taught in several rural schools in Holt, Wheeler and Antelope Counties. In 1970 she graduated from Wayne State College with her Bachelor of Science degree and returned to teaching. She married John Knievel on May 28, 1940 at St. John�s Catholic Church. The couple made their home southwest of Clearwater on their farm. John passed away on July 11, 1993 at Norfolk. Doris then moved to Clearwater and recently resided at the Willows in Neligh. She was a member at St. John�s Catholic Church, St. Theresa�s Parish, and most recently St. Francis Parish in Neligh. Doris enjoyed square dancing with her husband, crocheting, playing the organ, reading, sewing and baking ginger cookies and cinnamon rolls for the grandkids. She loved having her family with her and cooking for them. Survivors include five children and spouses: Fredrick and Marlene Knievel of Clearwater, Ne, Patricia and Larry Harmon of Union City, Tenn., Beverly and Stevan McCarthy of Moline, Ill., John and Jeanne Knievel of Elgin, Ne, and Mary Jo and Bruce Dinslage of Schuyler, Ne; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a brother James and Doris Wiegand of Clearwater, Ne.
