Funeral Services for Dorothy Gladys Moore age 96 of Neligh, NE were 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 14, 2014 at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh, Ne with Pastor Paul Dittmer, Officiating. Music was provided by Lynda Puls, Organist and Levern Hauptmann, Soloist. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh, NE. Visitation was 6:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home. Dorothy passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014 at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh, Ne. Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Dorothy Gladys (Peterson) Moore was born on June 27, 1918 Northeast of Neligh, Nebraska to John and Pearl (Hauptmann) Peterson. She attended school at District 72 northeast of Neligh thru the 8th grade and graduated from Neligh High School with the Class of 1935. On December 2, 1939 she married Clarence Moore at Center, Nebraska. To this union 2 children were born, Melvin and Karen. Dorothy taught school for a very short time. Dorothy worked in restaurants as a waitress for a number of years before she started to sell Avon. She sold Avon for almost 35 years. He was known as the "Avon Lady". Dorothy became a member of the Neligh Methodist church as a young woman and a member of Neighborhood Extension Club (The Rainbow Club) for many years. She enjoyed most being a homemaker, a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her greatest pleasure and joy was her family. Dorothy grew to adulthood living in the same vicinity all of her life until moving to Pioneer Homes in Neligh in 1997 where she lived until going to the Golden Living Center in December of 2009. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all. She will never be forgotten. Survived by her children: Melvin (Barbara) Moore, of Lincoln, Ne and Karen (Jerry) Peterson, of Neligh, Ne. Grandchildren: Cody (Lisa) Moore of Helendale, CA, Lori Brothers of Deadwood, SD. Great Grandchildren: Tyler Brothers, Dillon Burns of Deadwood, SD; Samantha Sasha and Sean Moore of Helendale, CA. Preceded in death by her parents and husband.
