Elmer W. Kloepper

Funeral Services for Elmer W. Kloepper age 86, of Neligh, Nebraska, was Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater, Nebraska with Pastor Carroll Plisek, Officiating. Music was provided by Carol Theile, Organist and Bob Kester, Soloist. Burial was in the Laurel Hill City Cemetery in Neligh, Nebraska. Pallbearers were Brandon Stelling, Grant Stelling, Rick Custard, Jerry Carpenter, Joel Carpenter, Troy Ingram, and Terry Julesgard. Honorary Pallbearers were Caregivers who graciously served. Visitation was Wednesday, October 27, 2010 5 - 8 p.m. at the Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater, Nebraska.

Elmer passed away Sunday, October 24, 2010 at Alpine Village in Verdigre, Nebraska.

Elmer Walter Kloepper, was born January 8, 1924, at O’Neill, NE. He was the oldest son of Gilbert W. and Rosa (Grunke) Kloepper. He was baptized May 30, 1924 in the United Methodist Church. His childhood was spent on a farm south of Brunswick. He attended school in Brunswick and Neligh High School. The family later moved to a farm northwest of Tilden where he farmed and did custom trucking with his brother for the neighbors. On April 12, 1953, he was married to Leona M. Ingram at the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Clearwater. The couple operated the El Dorado Theater in Ewing, which they had purchased. In 1954, they sold the theatre and moved to a farm northeast of Neligh which they had purchased. One daughter, Janell, was born to this union. Elmer and Leona lived on the farm for 46 years. While on the farm he raised livestock and crops. Along with farming, Elmer served on the school board and Elm Township board. He was a county manager for Archer Petroleum for 30 years and served as a dealer for 45 years. As they grew older they decided to move into Neligh in December 2000, but he was never tired of talking about the farm. Elmer and Leona enjoyed square dancing, camping, and fishing. He shared his love of gardening with his family and friends by giving away what he raised. Raising melons was his specialty. He adored his grandsons and went to many of their activities during their school years.

Survivors include daughter Janell and husband Al Stelling of Brunswick, NE; grandsons Brandon and wife Jackie of Vermillion, SD., and Grant of Brunswick, NE; sister-in-law, Marjorie Kloepper of Elgin, NE; and sisters-in-law, Donna Ingram of Cameron Park, CA, Mrs. William (Darlene) Custard of Bartlett, NE, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Violet Ingram on Lincoln, NE, Helen and Gene Morrow of Scotia, Bill and Bonnie Ingram of Lincoln, NE, Betty and Joe Waite of Lotus, CA., and David and Cindy Ingram of Lincoln, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in February of 2010, brothers, Ivan and Walter, nephew, Randall Kloepper, niece, Tracy Morrow, and brother-in-law, William Custard.
