Graveside Services for Glen Beman, age 76 of Neligh will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Clearwater Cemetery at Clearwater, NE with Pastor Georg Williams, Officiaing. Glen passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at his home. Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to the Neligh Senior Center, Neligh, Nebraska Glen Howard Beman was born at a little house in Valentine, NE on June 9, 1940. While growing up on two different ranches, Glen got in on many cattle drives and a lot of horseback riding. He also helped with many brandings around the country. The largest branding was at the Red Deer Ranch (Ted McGinley) that usually lasted about five days. After graduating from high school in 1958, he went to work for Clements Furniture Co. in Valentine where he sold and delivered furniture. On January 14, 1962, he married Donna Mosel at Clearwater, NE. Two daughters Denise and Cindy were born to this union. Glen volunteered for the Army draft and entered the Army on April 10, 1962. He received his discharge on April 9, 1964 from Active Duty. Most of this military time was spent at Fort Sam Houston, Texas where he served as a Medic on a 240 Bed Field Hospital. After getting out of the Military, Glen went to work for the State of Nebraska (at the Sioux City Stockyards) as a Brand Inspector. Glen left this job in January, 1970 and the family moved back to Valentine. He worked for Nollett Electric and Jack Roos Electric under a G.I. bill where he learned the plumbing and electric trade. In April 1978, he went to work for the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Services at Fort Niobrara in Valentine. In November 1996, Glen put in for a transfer and was transferred to the Florida Keys with the same agency. In May, 2000, Glen retired from the U. S. Fish and Wildlife. He and his wife traveled for four years around the country living in their large 5th wheel camper. In the Fall of 2004, they purchased a duplex in Neligh, Nebraska where they still reside. Glen loved camping, boating and fishing. He was active in his local Senior Center, delivering Meals on Wheels and serving on the local board. Survivors include his wife, Donna of Neligh, Daughters Denise (Gary) Givney, Pittsburg, Texas and Cindy (Tom) Casper, West Palm Beach, Florida. His granddaughters, Alyssa (Austin) Sparks of Elgin, Texas, Morgan (Christian) Butler of Allen, Texas. Taylor Casper of West Palm Beach Florida. Great Grandson Beckham Sparks, Elgin, Texas. Two Sisters, Patty Ward, Pierre, SD and Estella (Jim) Hanson, Gillette, Wyoming. Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard & Jessie Beman, and Brother-in-Law, Jim Ward.
