Funeral services for Iris Van Ostrand age 71, of Ewing will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Ewing, NE with Pastor Eric Ford, Officiating. Burial will be Ewing City Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 7, 2011 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater.
Iris passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh.
Iris Elizabeth Van Ostrand was born on July 16, 1939 to Earl and Edna (Cary) Van Ostrand Northwest rural Clearwater. She attended rural country school District 73. She graduated from Ewing High School with the class of 1956. Iris worked at cafes in Ewing, Neligh, Orchard, and O'Neill. Iris loved to collect salt & pepper shakers. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and visiting with friends and family. She was a member of Ewing Methodist-Presbyterian Church and the United Methodist-Presbyterian Women's Group.
She is survived by Sisters, Lottie Klein of Norfolk, NE and Luella Griep of Stockton, CA and Florence Ziegenbein and husband Herb of Winnentoon, NE. Several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death of her parents. Brothers, Gerald, Bruce, Vertis, Elven. Sister, Maxine.
