James Quinn Mechaley

Funeral Services for James Mechaley age 92 of Neligh, NE will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 10, 2014 at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father John Broheimer, Officiating. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Neligh, NE. Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm, Sunday, March 9, 2014 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Neligh with a 7 pm Vigil Service. James passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Antelope Memorial Hospital in Neligh, Ne. Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. James Quinn Mechaley was born on May 13, 1921 at Hamill, SD to Nicholas and Elizabeth (Quinn) Mechaley. He attended school in Hamill until moving to Neligh at age 10. He graduated with the class of 1939 from Neligh High School. On June 23, 1947 he was united in marriage to Bette Conner in Neligh at St. Francis Catholic Church. James farmed in the Elgin area but most known for working in 13 different sale barns as clerk and weighmaster. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, raising horses, reading, going to the casino, and watching T.V. He was a lifelong member of St. Francis Church. He is survived by his wife, Bette, and Children: Tom and wife, Lila Mechaley of Santee, Ne and Kathy and husband, Dan Ahlstedt of O'Neill, Ne. 7 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by his parents. Sisters: Mary Totten and Evelyn Market.
