Funeral Services for John Overton age 86, of Fremont, Ne were 1:30 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2014 at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh, Ne with Pastor Fay Hubbard, Officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Oakdale, Ne with Military Rites conducted by Neligh American Legion Post #172. Pallbearers were Michael Overton, Milo Lynn, Todd Voborny, Allen Brown, Rusty Meyer, and Robbie Meyer. Visitation was from 4-7 Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh. John passed away January 16, 2014 at his home in Fremont. John E. Overton was born August 22, 1927 to John and Edith Overton in Neligh, Ne. He served in the Army from 1945 - 1953 in the 34th Infantry, 24th division in the Korean War. He also served in Japan. He was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver until moving to Fremont in 1968. John married Ardella Brown from Oakdale, Ne in 1956. John was a avid fisherman. He also enjoyed camping and traveling. He really enjoyed his grand kids and great grandkids. His favorite hobbies were making walking sticks out of diamond willow wood, and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Ardella, daughters: Kathy Satorie and husband Rick of North Bend, Ne, Shirley Creps and husband Bill of North Bend, Ne; Sons: James Overton of Linwood, Ne and Jay Overton of Ames, Ne. 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Arthur, Orville, Clark, & Orin. Two sisters, Laura and Olga. Tokens of sympathy may be directed to the family for a memorial yet to be established.
