Funeral Services for Leo Miller age 91 of Ewing, NE were at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Ewing with Pastor Eric Ford, Officiating. Music was provided by Nancy Harpster as organist and Soloist, Kevin Fry, Bill Kruger, Matt Maxwell, and Beau Fry. Burial was in Ewing City Cemetery with Military Rites by Sanders American Legion Post #214. Leo passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek, Nebraska. Arrangement are conducted by Snider Memorial Funeral Home of Clearwater. Leo Earnest Miller was born on September 14, 1921 to Howard and Vera (Trowbridge) Miller at Page, NE. He graduated from Ewing High School in 1939. In September of 1942 Leo enlisted in the United States Army. He attended basic training at Camp Roberts in California, OCS Flight School at Fort Sill in Oklahoma, and 83rd Division training at Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky. Leo went overseas in February of 1944. During his duty, he served in France, Luxemburg, and Germany. He returned home in September of 1945. On December 5, 1943 he was united in marriage to Shirley Switzer at her parents' Ora and Winifred Switzer's home in rural Ewing. Leo farmed with his Dad and Brother until retiring.

He enjoyed woodworking, camping, reading, singing, and traveling. His biggest and proudest accomplishment was his family. He was a very active member of the United Methodist-Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and on various committees. He served on the Ewing Public School Board for many years and was past president. Leo was a member of the Sanders American Legion Post #214. Leo is survived by his wife, Shirley of Ewing. Children; Joanie and husband David Worthen of Marion, OH, Becky and husband Loren Johnson of Omaha, NE, Ellen and husband Doug Denney of Norfolk, NE, and Melanie and husband Frank Funk of Ewing, NE. 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Brother, Walter Miller of Ewing, NE and sister, Lou Bosell of Stanwood, WA. Many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, son Steve Miller, Granddaughter Ashley Hagler and Sister Jeanetta Hadduck.
