Funeral Services for Mary Lou Napier age 78 formerly of Ewing, Ne were at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 22, 2005 at the United Methodist-Presbyterian USA Church in Ewing with Pastor Costa de Oliveira officiating. Music was provided by Nancy Harpster organist and Richard Emsick soloist. Burial was in the Ewing City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ryan Flenniken, Angie Hupp, Autumn Bartak, Chris Hupp, Nicole Hupp, Kyle Wahab, C.J. Bartak, Craig Flenniken, Collin Wahab, Brad Hupp, Corey Hupp and Rob Hupp. She passed away December 19, 2005 at Heritage of Bel Air of Norfolk. Snider Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mary Lou Napier was born May 23, 1927 at Ewing, Nebraska the daughter of Zeno and Margaret (Robson) Fry. She grew up in the Riverside Community and graduated from Ewing High School with the class of 1944. Mary moved to California for a short while and then back to Grand Island, Nebraska where she worked as a telephone operator. She married Richard Napier on May 7, 1947 at the Presbyterian Church in Ewing. The couple farmed for 37 years and also owned and operated the Napier fertilizer business on their farm. Richard passed away in 1985 at Omaha, Ne. Mary then moved to Norfolk in 1988 where she was a volunteer at Faith Regional Health Services and at Heritage of Bel Air. Mary was a member of the United Presbyterian Women and also an elder in her church in Ewing. Survivors include four daughters: Nancy and her husband Bruce Flenniken, Rita and her husband Chuck Bartak all of Ewing, Susan Hupp of Norfolk, and Sonjia and her husband Scott Wahab of Visalia, CA, a brother Wayne and his wife Norma Fry of Ewing, a sister Marzena Emsick of Omaha, and 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: Esther Rickert, Betty Napier, Phyllis Jensen and a son-in-law Nick Hupp.
