Funeral services for Mathias �Matt� Wagner age 81 of Ewing were at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2006 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home with Father Bill Safranek officiating. Military rites will be provided by VFW Post # 1151 of Creighton. Pallbearers were Joe Wagner, Jeremy Wagner, Casey Bowling, Tanner Hart, Dan Cunningham, and Blake Cunningham. He passed away Monday, June 12, 2006 at Avera St. Anthony�s Hospital in O�Neill. Mathias Henry Wagner was born April 27, 1925 the son of Joseph and Emma (Meyer) Wagner at Creighton, Ne. He grew up on the family homestead and went to school at St. Ludger�s Catholic School in Creighton. He entered in the United States Army on June 16, 1945 at Fort Leavenworth Kansas and departed the service on January 22, 1947 at Fort Sheridan Illinios. He returned home and on October 10, 1951 he married Mary Lou Rasmussen at Elgin, Ne.. The couple made their home on a farm south of Creighton before retiring and moving to Orchard in 1990, and recently moving to Ewing. Matt enjoyed fishing, playing cards and his 7 mile trips to local towns to play his cards. He was a life-long member of VFW Post #1151 of Creighton. Survivors include his wife MaryLou, 4 Children: Linda and Dave Riesberg of Lincoln, NE, Jerry and Deb Wagner of Ewing, Ne, Bruce Wagner of Orchard, Ne, Marsha and Craig Hart of Clearwater, Ne, 2 Brothers: Herman and Colleen Wagner of Norfolk, Ne, and Lawrence and Donna Wagner of Crofton. A sister Rosemarie Babel of Humphrey, Ne and a brother-in-law Bill Schreier of Verdigre,Ne. 10 grand-children, 8 Great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ann Schreier; an infant Grandson Jonathan Joseph Wagner.
