Funeral Services for Mitchell Wayne Legate age 44 of Norfolk, was at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk with Pastor Lee Weander, officiating. music was provided by Barb Legate, "Johansen Sisters", and "The Dogs" (Johnny, Mike, Ron, Tom, and Randy) Burial was in the Concordia Lutheran Cemetery south of Clearwater at 2:00 p.m. Pallbearers were Billy Legate, Shane Ruppert, Austin Ruppert, Darren Patzel, Ryan Ruppert, and Roger Legate. Honorary Pallbearers were Tonua Legate, Breanna Ashton, Paige Baker, Loren Horstman, Colten Legate, Tristan Legate, Johnny Johnson, Mike Langan, Ron Luth, Tom Nye, and Randy Whiteman. Visitation was Tuesday, October 6, 2009 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Church.
Mitchell passed away October 3, 2009 in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Mitchell Wayne Legate was born on August 26, 1965 in Tilden, Nebraska to the late Bill Legate and Sharon Menebroker "Legate" Peter. He attended school in Clearwater, Ne; Rapid City, SD; and Ewing, Ne. In Mitchell's early years he was a drummer in his father's country western band �Bill Legate and the Roving Cowboys. At the time of his death he was a drummer for the group called "The Dogs" and an employee of Apogee Retail Call Center in Columbus, Ne. One of his favorite past-times was to play fetch with his beloved cat "Bear". He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews, other family, and friends.
Mitchell, the beloved son of Sharon, is survived by his mother. Sisters: Connie and husband Ken Ashton of Clarkson, Ne., Cheri and husband Doug Ruppert of Carlisle, Ia., and Crystal Legate of Norfolk, Ne. Brothers: James Legate of Norfolk, Ne, Billy Legate of Lincoln, Ne, and Darren Patzel of Norfolk, Ne. Nephews: Shane, Austin, and Ryan Ruppert of Carlisle, Ia, Loren Horstmann of Neligh, Ne, Colten and Tristan Legate of Norfolk, Ne. Nieces Tanya Legate and Breanna Ashton of Clarkson, Ne and Paige Baker of Sioux City, Ia.
He is preceded in death by his father Bill Legate. Grandparents, Walt and Helen Menebroker; Morris and Frances Legate.
