Norfolk - Alvin E. Synovec (Butch to some, Al to others) (1945–2024) Services for Alvin E Synovec, 78, of Norfolk (formerly of Kearney) will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6th at First United Congregational Church, 405 West Park St. located in Plainview, NE. Pastor Joan Alexander will officiate with burial in the Plainview cemetery. A visitation will be held before the service from 12 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are by Ashburn Funeral Homes in Plainview. Alvin died Thursday, March 28th, 2024, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, NE.

Alvin was born near Tilden on December 15th, 1945, to Elmer and Ethie Synovec. Alvin graduated from Pierce High School in 1964. He married Beverly Bomar in 1964 and together had 2 children.

He is survived by his children, David (Lynnda) Synovec of Amherst, NE and daughter, Debbie (Lonnie) Robinson of Plainview, NE. Sister Shirley (Harold) Hansen of Plainview and Jerry (Verlene) Synovec of Randolph. Grandchildren Cassie (Justin) McCain, Robbie Robinson, Sara (Jason) Kruse and Annie (Anthony) Clemens, 6 great grandchildren and his best friend, Taylor, his dog.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly (Bomar) Synovec, special friend Sharon Loschen, his parents Elmer and Ethie Synovec, sisters Donna Steuck and Joyce Gansebom.

Alvin spent his life hunting, fishing, playing cards and being around his family most of all His dog Snickers, who has passed, and Taylor who is still with us were his best friends. He enjoyed having company and socializing with everyone. He spent the last year in the Norfolk Veterans Home where he made a lot of new friends while playing cards and going on road trips with the Vet’s home. Alvin will always be remembered for his
practical jokes and being ornery. Alvin’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
