Funeral Service for Bob D. Hobbs age 80 of Ewing, NE will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019 at United Methodist-Presbyterian Church in Ewing with Pastor A.G. Turner, Officiating. Burial will be in Ewing City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2019 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater, NE. Bob passed away on June 18, 2019 at his home. Bobby Dean Hobbs was born on July 2, 1938 to Lee Albert and Mildred (Harding) Hobbs in O’Neill, Nebraska. In 1940 the family moved to Ewing. Bob attended Ewing Public School, graduating in 1956. In March 1956, Bob joined the National Guard in O’Neill and was discharged in march 1957. At this time he enlisted in the Army he was stationed at Ft. Chaffee, AR, Ft. Devins, MA; Ft Bragg, NC; Ft Lewis, WA and in Korea. He was in the Army Security Agency and received his final discharge papers on February 28, 1963. On December 22, 1957 he was united in marriage to Janell Hoke at the United Methodist Church in Ewing. They started out their married life at Ft. Bragg, NC. to this union four children were born. Bob was engaged in trucking since 1964. Bob was very generous to all he met. Bob and Janell celebrated 61 years of marriage. Bob enjoyed trucking, collecting coins, Nebraska Football, watching westerns, guns, and mowing the yard. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Masons, Plainview Lodge #204 A.M. & F.M. Plainview, NE.
Survived by his wife, Janell Hobbs of Ewing, NE. Robert Hobbs of Ewing, Hyla (Ken) Kruntorad of Ewing, Ryne (Joni) Hobbs of Brockville, KS, and Wendi (Ryan) Schrunk of Ewing, NE. 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren: Carrie (Chris) Phillips and Branson; Alicia (Brian) Klawinski and Kinsley, Carter, Caleb, Carson; Jared Kruntorad; Hannah Kruntorad and fiancé Alex Haase; Dustin, Amber, and Jacob Hobbs; Travis (Margo) Schrunk and Lucas, Everett; Logan (Samantha) Schrunk; Morgan Schrunk; Tovah Plumer. Brothers, Dwayne Hobbs, of Ewing, Dorrence Hobbs of Lincoln, NE. Sister-in-law Darlene Hobbs of Fremont and Sue Hoke of O’Neill, NE.
Preceded in death by parents, brothers, Bill and Mick. Sisters, Elsie, Lois, and baby in-infancy. Parents-in-law, DeWitt and Florence Hoke. Brother-in-law, Clayton Hoke. Grandson, Vaughn Plumer.
