Buford Thomas Cook

Memorial Services for Buford T. Cook, age 90, of Neligh, formally of Michigan, will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home of Neligh with Pastor Adrian Atkins, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph, Missouri at a later date.

Buford passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Antelope Memorial Hospital.

Buford Thomas Cook was born on December 8, 1919 to Arthur and Evalena (Heil) Cook at St. Joseph, Missouri. He was baptized in Farmington, New Mexico, and graduated from High School in Deer River, Minnesota in June, 1938. On February 27, 1942 he was inducted into the United States Army at Ft. Snelling, Minnesota and served until October 19, 1945. During these years he served in Africa, Egypt, and later at Fort Robinson as a communication specialist. Buford worked many places but lived in Michigan from the fall of 1963 through March of 2010 when he moved to Neligh, Nebraska. A carpenter all his life, he liked building things - from homes to furniture to office buildings. He belonged to the Seventh Day Adventist Church all his life and did many mission trips and projects for the church, serving the lord in whatever way possible.

He is survived by his children: Marilyn and husband Steve Arnold of Grand Island, Nebraska; Bobbie Hamit of Aurora, Nebraska; Jeanie and husband Lyle Juracek of Neligh; and Jim Cook of North Platte, Nebraska. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Kenneth, and 3 wives.
