Clarence John Behnk

Funeral Service for Clarence J. Behnk, age 95, of Neligh, Nebraska 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater, Nebraska.  Burial will be in Clearwater Cemetery in Clearwater.  Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater.  Clarence passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk, Nebraska.  Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater is handling the arrangements.  Condolences may be directed to the family at www.snidermemorialfh.com      

     Clarence John Behnk was born to John and Frieda (Brockmoller) Behnk on October 21, 1928, the youngest of 13 children.  He grew up on his parents farm near Clearwater and attended the rural schools.  On July 26, 1947, he was united into marriage to Sylvia M. Bragg.  They raised three children, Daryl, Russel, and Nancy.  Sylvia passed away in 1997.  On April 24, 1999 he was united into marriage to Lois (Ollendick).  He worked for Contois Motors in Neligh for 50 years in the body shop and sales.  He loved going fishing and pheasant hunting with his family and friends.  He enjoyed playing cards, cribbage and carble whenever there was someone to play with.  After retirement he made many windmills from bike wheels and also made 4 and 6 player carble boards.     

     He is survived by his wife, Lois, two sons, Daryl and Russel and wife, Kathy and son-in-law, Rick Buxton.  9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, 4 step children, 11 step grandchildren, and 20 step great grandchildren.     

     He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Sylvia, and daughter, Nancy.  Eight sisters, Rose, Alma, Dora, Clara, Hilda, and three in infancy, four brothers, Jurgen, Adolph, Louie, and Otto.
