DeWitt Hoke Ewing--- Funeral services for DeWitt Hoke age 102 of Ewing will be at 10:30 am, Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at the United Methodist � Presbyterian U.S.A church in Ewing with Rev. Lance Clay officiating. Burial will be in the Ewing Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, November 6, 2007 with the family present and there will be a 7:30 pm Masonic rite service by Diamond Lodge, #291 A.F. & A.M. of Orchard at Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Clearwater. Mr. Hoke passed away Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Plainview Area Health System in Plainview. Condolences may be sent to www.snidermemorial.com DeWitt Luther Hoke was born on October 24, 1905 to William and Phoebe Jane Gunter Hoke at the Hoke homestead east of Ewing. He was raised on the family farm and attended school District 86. On March 18, 1916 he joined the Methodist Church in Ewing and is still at member. He graduated from Ewing High School in 1923 and has attended the Alumni Banquet faithfully until the last couple years. For years he rang the church bell and was a certified lay speaker. He was also the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. DeWitt was an avid reader with his papers, books and magazines and had kept up with the world topics with the help of the TV. He also was very inventive with making things work with what he had. He is a member of Diamond Lodge, #291A.F &A.M. order of the Masons of Orchard. After graduating from high school, DeWitt stayed on the family farm and took care of his parents. On March 15, 1939 he married Mary Florence Herting at Salem, S.D. Florence died on November 3, 1978. DeWitt is survived by son Clayton and wife Sue Hoke and daughter Janell and husband Bob Hobbs all of Ewing. Grandchildren: Robert Hobbs, Hyla (Ken) Kruntorad, Ryne Hobbs, Wendi (Ryan) Schrunk, Aaron (Candice) Hoke and Amanda (Jamie) Schluns. Great-grandchildren: Carrie, Alicia, Jared and Hannah Kruntorad; Dustin, Amber and Jacob Hobbs; Travis, Logan and Morgan Schrunk; Blake, Mason and Preston Hoke; Meg and Haley Schluns. One sister, Genevieve Nelson of Plainview, Ne and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Florence in 1978, brother William and sisters, Elsie Gunter, Mabel Prunty, Ethel Prunty, Sylvia Harvey and Verna Pennington.
